Newton’s Centre Street Food Pantry Names Rose Saia As Director

NEWTON, MA — Newton’s Centre Street Food Pantry (CSFP) has named Acton resident Rose Saia as its new executive director, reported The Boston Globe.

Saia led the pantry’s operations throughout the pandemic, ensuring that the organization continued to provide food to many clients in need.

“Meeting the growth has been challenging, but CSFP is 100 percent committed to going above and beyond to be sure that those we serve today, and those who need us tomorrow, are warmly welcomed and receive what they need,” Saia told The Boston Globe.

The pantry, located at 11 Homer Street in Newton Centre, serves the residents of Newton, Allston, Brighton, Brookline, Needham, Watertown, Waltham, Wellesley, and West Roxbury. About 1,000 families receive services from the organization each month, a number that continues to grow every week.

Families receive both fresh and nonperishable groceries, personal care products, and extra food if they have children. Since March 2020, the pantry has 85,000 grocery bags in 17,000 household visits.

CSFP offers curbside pickup of groceries every Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
