FUTURE Food Stars viewers were left very distracted by Gordon Ramsay’s hair as he kicked off his new cooking show on Thursday.
The celebrity chef is on the hunt for the UK’s most exciting new food and drink business, putting 12 entrepreneurs through a series of challenges as they compete to win his £150,000 investment.
Last night, Gordon invited his entrepreneurs to Cornwall, where he shocked them when he jumped out of a helicopter and into the sea.
He had a James Bond moment as he emerged from the water wet to greet the contestants for the first time.
But viewers were quick to spot a “continuity error” pointing out that Gordon’s hair had dried in “two seconds” after jumping into the water.
One wrote: “How is his hair so dry after that?! #FFS.”
Another posted: “Blimey @GordonRamsay has got quick drying hair #FutureFoodStars”
A third added: “The continuity between Gordon’s wet hair and dry hair within 2 seconds #FutureFoodStars.”
He then put the group through a high-pressure individual challenge so they could overcome their fears and put their faith in him.
The TV star also wanted to see how they worked in a team using the finest local produce, so challenged them to run food shacks on a beach to feed hundreds of hungry tourists in Newquay.
Then, in the biggest test of all, they come face-to face with Gordon as he grilled them on their performance this week.
Each week the contestants will battle it out in hopes of winning investment for their business – but only the ones who impress will continue on this epic adventure.
BBC viewers took to social media to compare Gordon’s new show to popular show The Apprentice.
One wrote on Twitter: “So basically this is the food version of The Apprentice.”
Another said: Anyone else watching @GordonRamsay new show and wondering when @Lord_Sugar is going to appear?! Is it the apprentice or a new food show?!”
A third chimed in: “#FFS is the apprentice but with Food. Bit of a rip off.”
“Just waiting for Karen Brady to step out and tell us how easy it is. #FFS,” a fourth joked.
Despite the similarities, many loved the new show.
One tweeted: “This is superb. The apprentice with food and Ramsey and we are all shouting at the tree hugging vegan. Superb.”
“The Apprentice in food. Enjoying it. Fortunately, no business suits,” someone else commented.
Another added: “Loving the new @GordonRamsay show, a mixture of the Apprentice and Kitchen Nightmares, I hope the catchphrase is You’re fucking fired.”
Speaking about the show, Ramsay said: “Future Food Stars is about finding some of the most exciting, emerging food-and-drinks businesses that have been created in the UK.
“Especially on the back of the devastating two years with the pandemic, Future Food Stars will give someone the chance to focus and develop some exciting business ideas that have the potential to absolutely explode over the next 18 months.”
