Two Sacramento-area restaurants receive Michelin Guide recognition

Food critics awarded two Sacramento area restaurants the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition Wednesday. Natomas Dim Sum restaurant Yue Huang, and Roseville’s Nixtaco both reacted to the news. “Thank you for choosing us,” said CK Chan, co-owner of Yue Huang. “I really appreciate that.” Chan says the inspiration for Yue Huang came from her personal experience trying to find authentic Chinese food in the U.S. after immigrating from China. She was unfamiliar with the sweet-and-sour and “Mongolian” dishes on American menus.Over the years, Yue Huang has received many accolades, including being named one of Sacramento’s Top 50 Restaurants by The Sacramento Bee, and voted the 2018 winner of Sacramento A List for the No. 1 Dim Sum in town. In Roseville, Nixtaco celebrated its first Michelin Guide win.”I’m really appreciative and I’m proud of it,” said chef-owner Patricio Wise. “But it doesn’t change that we’ll get back to work and put the same effort we’ve put in throughout.”Wise is proud to fold his cultural heritage into every dish at his restaurant, which specializes in cuisine from his hometown in Monterrey, Mexico.”We put a lot of care into it. The tortillas, we make from scratch, the corn we grind in-house. We make sure everything is good from the bottom up,” Wise said.The Michelin Bib Gourmand award honors restaurants that serve great food at reasonable prices, making it possible for customers to “order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for around $40 or less,” excluding tax and gratuity.
