Jacksonville restaurant openings closings in November

The $1 billion sale of Firehouse Subs — founded in Jacksonville by two firefighter brothers who then built the popular sandwich shop into a 1,200-plus global chain — topped November restaurant news.

The opening of the much-anticipated luxury furnishing retailer RH Jacksonville, The Gallery at St. Johns Town Center with its upscale rooftop restaurant, wine bar and lush garden dazzled.

Sugar Factory American Brasserie announced it hopes to open its upscale confectionery and restaurant with its elaborate candies and desserts at Markets at Town Center near St. Johns Town Center in early 2022.

Gotham, and Other New York City Restaurant Openings

Peter Philis, whose great-grandfather founded Lexington Candy Shop in 1925, has teamed up with another restaurant industry veteran, Paul Modica, to open this neighborhood-style spot where easygoing American fare rules.

A brick-walled tearoom, owned by Ali Saboor and Nasim Alikhani, serves sweets like traditional cupcakes, rose-scented doughnuts and rice puddings. It’s a spinoff from Sofreh, a Persian restaurant in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, which Ms. Alikhani owns with Theodore Petroulas. The cafe also offers a few savory pastries.
