Nottingham street food business launches DIY delivery box to make pork burgers

A Nottingham street food business is making its award winning burgers available for customers to order and make in their own homes.

PORCO- a street food businessbased in Lady Bay – was awarded the title of Best Burger at the British Street Food Awards 2020 for its PIGMAC burger.

Jez Poyser, who runs the business, butchers shoulders of pork into the mouth-watering burger patties which are now being sold as part of a ‘PORCO@HOME’ box that also includes the brand’s home-cured bacon.

The pork patties come in a pack of eight, making four full size Pig Mac’s which are delivered to the doorstep with step-by-step instructions on how to cook them.

Jez, who established the business eight years ago, said: “The box comes with eight patties which I butcher and grind myself. Each PIGMAC is two patties.

“The kit also comes with four rashers of in-house-cured bacon and four demi-brioche buns from Tough Mary’s Bakehouse on Derby Road.

“They also come with eight slices of cheese, our house pickled-cucumbers and shredded iceberg lettuce. We make our own version of Mac sauce which we’ve added to the box.

“I’ve been doing a range of boxes and with the PIGMAC kit, we want each customer to send us a picture on Instagram of their attempt to make the burger. The winner will get a free box of their choice.

“Due to the demand, we’ll keep them on sale next week too. Last week we did a Korean sharing box which had our cherry smoked pulled pork and we’ve done smoked beef ribs recently too.”

The PORCO@HOME box including the PIGMAC, will be on sale until the end of February 7 at the earliest. Deliveries for this week will be made on Saturday, January 30 between 4 and 6:30pm.

PORCO also sells Burnt Basque cheesecakes which can ordered online from its Instagram too.

Jez began his business nearly a decade ago by selling porchetta in at a stall in Old Market Square. He added he is keen to organise more pop-ups when he can once Covid restrictions are relaxed.
